BookRenew was started by students for students with its main goal to make college affordable to every student. By allowing students to sell books between each other instead of to the book store we cut out the middle man saving students hundreds of dollars every semester. We are students just like you and understand that college is expensive not to mention the books, the housing and everything else with it. We are trying to save you money and the use of our site is COMPLETELY FREE! We don't charge our users anything to list their books, look up deals or use our application. We are currently supporting our site with small ad's on the left and right of our site and will never sell your personal information to make money. If you would like to help us out and see an ad that you are interested in click it, it will help us keep this site going for everyone.
By listing your books on BookRenew.com thousands of students every day will see your posting. They can sort by price, distance, rating and seller to find what they are looking for fast. Only students looking for college textbooks use our site so your ad is not situated between a new puppy and a broken car. Though it is possible to post other books on our site those postings will be removed if reported as spam or junk.
Our Guarantee is that we will not try and sell you someones "Great College Widget" or release your private information to anyone. Don't get pulled into the new book game, just because a book is used does not mean its worthless. We have our users rate there book using a custom algorithm to save you the most money and get them more than the book store.
We are not in this to make a profit from the students, we only ask that if you like our site to please tell your friends and family or donate to our cause. The only way we can grow is through word of mouth and advertising.
When you list a book on our site we use your personal information including your name, address, zip code and phone number. When a book is purchased your contact information (Name and Cell Number) is traded between party's over SMS to complete the transaction. Also your zip code will be used whenever a user searches for a book within a certain distance. Once the sell has been initiated you have 2 options.
If you trade your book in person please meet in a public place that you both agree upon. Your college student center is usually a very safe place to trade and is well known by students at the same campus. Please be safe in all of your meetings and always be honest in your transactions. We can not be held responsible for any actions that occur outside of our site during any trade or any other orientation with outside party's.
You can ship the book using UPS, USPS, or Fedex. When you ship your book to another user please use paypal or another payment processor that has a buyer protection system built in for both party's safety. If you are shipping your book inside of the continental United States you may use USPS media mail for great rates and quick delivery. Always get a tracking number on your package in case the unforseen should occur. We do not recommend the use of wire transfers, bank transfers or any other form of payment unless you know your seller and are willing to take that kind of risk.
We will never ask for personal/private information through email. When you sign up to use our site you give us personal information we may use to contact you in case of an emergency. We will never ask you for any information through SMS, Email or our Message Center. We may ask you to update certain information but will do so on the site above your "My Account" page.
